TPW Shred Day

Normally we reserve our blog for “work-related” items but we decided The Public Works shred day was worth mention if for no other reason than that we got the entire crew to hang out at once.

We did our best to carpool and convened in the Evergreen Walmart parking lot to consolidate gear and grab a coffee for those that forgot to snag a delicious Coda espresso (shameless plug) at Battery621.

The whole crew (12 deep) rolled in strong to Montezuma Basin and immediately started our…

Canvas Prints for Auction

This winter we purchased a 40″ archival printer from Digital Arts Aspen and it’s been sitting for way too long. This past week we finally fired her up and printed 4 canvas prints as part of a Battery621 event celebrating Chris Davenport’s Everest Summit and successful ski of the Lhoste Face.  2 Photos are from Davenport’s camera on Everest…

Desert Rally

We just returned to Denver from a quick trip to Mammoth Lakes to shoot lifestyle with Julia Mancuso, TJ Lanning, and Jake Zamansky. The photos were primarily for European marketing materials and the brief was simple product-focused naturally lit photography.

Due to our car full of dead cell phones and an unfortunate and unnecessary detour sign we ended up getting the scenic tour of…

Red Bull Cold Rush Video and Texas Trip

We already posted about designing, building, delivering, and installing the branding for the 2011 Red Bull Cold Rush in Silverton as well as shooting the event. We promised a video in that post so here it is:

Ian is 30!

So Ian turned 30 last week. We did what any normal crew would do, and we surprised him with a celebration at Battery621. Grilled meat, beer, cake, and trailball were on the menu for the nights festivities. Oh, and to top if off, there was a gift. Not just any ol’ gift either.

Red Bull Thre3Style - Boulder

Last night we shot another Red Bull Thre3style and a few weeks ago we shot another Open Ice. At these events we always get asked a million times where people can get the shots and the reality is that they will never see 99% of what we shoot. A few selects go to Red Bull Media House and a few end up on our blog but we always end up filling a ton of requests for event participants and spectators…

Alaska Online Editorial

Ian Fohrman wrote a 3 part series for Powder.com on his trip to AK during the worst snow year in 30 years as well as some coverage of WESC and Tailgate AK for ESPN.

Part 1
“I already had my plane ticket and a deposit on an RV when the news started trickling in. It didn’t take long before my entire crew had bailed and the event I was going to cover was rumored canceled. Just like that, I…

Red Bull Cold Rush (*New Video)

This year Red Bull brought Cold Rush, the coolest backcountry event in skiing, into our backyard and we were there to help with a range of services from branding and trophy creation, to logistic help, to photography (Ian is also writing a feature piece for one of the main snow mags on the event).

The event:
Not enough can be said about the challenges of bringing a full scale production…

CMH Booth

We recently built a tradeshow booth for Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH, the biggest heli ski operation in the world) for the Young Presidents’ Organization conference.

We incorporated actual heli parts into the beetle kill timber frame booth including a spinning tail-rotor. We used our own imagery from The Public Works extensive snow sports image bank and installed a vikuiti screen…

Spyder Product Photography

We’ve spent the last 2 months cranking in our brand new studio at Battery621, shooting all of next year’s Spyder product and we’re about to wrap. It’s been amazing having our own space to work in and customize to our workflow.

We’re shooting the D700 tethered to an iMac through Lightroom3 and lighting with Profoto and Pocket Wizards. We’ve been working the hell out of our stylist Amber Martin, digi-tech Jordan Loyd, and assistant Jack Boyd…
