Colorado Ski Country USA Double Diamond Awards

Each June, Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) acknowledges the ski season’s outstanding industry professionals at the Double Diamond Awards Reception. The Double Diamond Awards gives the CSCUSA the opportunity to honor snow maintenance professionals, athletes, instructors, patrollers and industry legends. Resort managers and supervisors nominate individuals from their respective ski areas to be judged by a panel of industry peers on criteria including professionalism, dedication, contribution, leadership and attitude. The Double Diamond awards not only celebrate current industry standouts but also encourage further excellence by professionals and athletes in seasons to come.

When The Public Works was asked to create the awards for this year’s event, we took CSCUSA’s mission statement to heart. As our team is built of avid riders and skiers alike, we know firsthand what all of the winners were up against last season, ranging from below average snowfall, avalanches, and less than ideal conditions. Will all of that in mind, we wanted to create an award that was raw and natural, and we tried not to use any new material or harmful processes. We utilized existing downed beetle kill pine we had on hand, and had each trophy laser etched to achieve our goal. It was a distinct look, one that was quite different from last year’s awards. CSCUSA was stoked, and we heard the awards winners were as well.
