Red Rocks Photography

project overview

During the summer of 2011, The Public Works had the honor of shooting photos for Denver Arts and Venues, a division of the City of Denver, Colorado.  This work allowed us an artistic change from our usual athletic-driven photography.  It also had us working in the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre—a truly unique, outdoor venue on a natural rock formation in Morrison, Colorado.  There, we photographed several amazing concerts, including: Styx; Pretty Lights; and The Flaming Lips. We also shot some Film on the Rocks events, including: the 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb, a fundraiser to help support the families of those who sacrificed their lives on September 11, 2001; and the second annual Snowboard on the Rocks event, featuring world premiere snowboard films and live performances.

As a bonus for a job well done, one of our images from these shoots was chosen as a winner in a City of Denver-sponsored contest.  That image made its way onto an installation at the Denver Convention Center. It’s the 6th image in the slides with the rainbow, you can’t miss it.
