Ian Fohrman has been with The Public Works since the year of the company’s inception. He joined Mike and Frank as the 3rd member of the team and has been working on a vast array of projects since. In the early days Mike, Frank, and Ian would do everything from welding to producing photoshoots. Ian worked alongside Mike to manage Helly Hansen’s Global Snow Sports Marketing which included everything from media buying, to graphic design, to contract negotiations with athletes.
Ian still does a large range of tasks but most of his energy is focused on brand building, photography, and managing The Public Works multimedia department. He also works as a writer and photographer for a number of outdoor publications as well as being a furniture builder, chicken owner, hunter, and cyclist.
Why do you like working with TPW:
I am constantly in awe of the amazing people I get to work with and learn from every day. Everyone on our team comes to work every day with humor, passion, and work ethic that can only come from loving what you do.
It’s nearly impossible to choose a favorite project. However, Red Bull Cold Rush has always been an amazing event. We get the opportunity to utilize our all our skills from design and fabrication, to photography, to backcountry safety. Once deep in the Silverton, Colorado backcountry, after doing the scariest full powered helicopter “toe in” (when the helicopter touches the front of the skids to a steep slope and the passengers climb out the door and lower themselves to the slope) I’d ever done, another filmer delivered me hot ribs and mashed potatoes on the next landing… tough to beat that. Any project that involves travel to a new place ranks pretty high on the list as well.
