The equinox is behind us but we’re not ready to let go of winter quite yet. We have a stacked month of shoots coming up with K2, Spyder, Deuter, and Airstream. We wanted to share a few of our favorite projects from the beginning of 2018: Endless Caravan with celebrity chef Hugh Acheson, another Endless Caravan with Ryan and Daniele, a Smartwool brand shoot, a trip to Japan, ski testing for Powder Magazine, an ongoing partnership with Weston Snowboards, a Spyder shoot at Big Sky Montana, and our work has been selected as a feature film in the Brand Film Festival!

Brand Film Festival – Featured Film

One of our favorite pieces, Airstream Anthem – Creed, has been selected as a feature film in the 2018 Brand Film Festival! We couldn’t be more stoked or proud.

The BFF showcases the years most artistic, creative and innovative branded content films from You Tube videos to long-form documentaries. The event, where Hollywood meets Madison Avenue, honors a new generation of marketing/brand storytellers while rewarding the brands, agencies and craftspeople leading the way in their fields.

The selected work is Anthem – Creed, a short brand film for Airstream. The film is a compilation of new footage, archival footage, and new material crafted to bring Airstream’s founder, Wally Byam, back to life. The story is narrated through the perspective of “Old Grandad”, a vintage trailer from 1937.

Creed will be screened in New York City on May 3rd alongside other selected films from other major brands such as: National Geographic, Lyft, Nike, Amazon, Intel, Fox, Adobe, Nike, Facebook, AT&T, Harley, Timberland, Lexus, Charles Schwab, Prada, Delta, Apple, and more.

The jury is comprised of executives, directors, and creatives from some of the biggest and most respected brands in the world ( http://www.brandfilmfestival.com/2018-jurors/)!

Smartwool Jackson Hole

We absolutely love working with this crew. The Smartwool team is creative, organized, and fun to hang with. They have an all-star athlete team and some of our favorite product out there. Couple that with epic locations like Sedona, AZ and Jackson Hole, WY and their quickly becoming one of our  favorite clients to work with.

Airstream Endless – Daniele and Ryan – Colorado

Ryan and Danielle charged from a successful Utah stop to meet up with us at one of our favorite and secret back country camping and snowboarding zones. It ended up dropping to 8 degrees that night but we all laughed, kept warm near the campfire and exchanged tricks and tips to winter Airstreaming.

The next morning brought us stunning blue skies and air temps that went from bitter cold to balmy during two cups of coffee. We couldn’t have been more happy to share our Colorado playground with Ryan and Danielle who beam with their love for snow and riding mountains.  We all shared an amazing day on the mountain together and life-long friendships were forged.

Airstream Ad. in Bike Magazine

We pride ourselves in finding partnerships that created added value. Since day one, we’ve embraced the 1+1=3 mentality that a good partnership is more than the sum of its parts. When we were challenged to tell a story about Airstream Adventure we immediately thought of Dakine as a perfect fit. The lined up some of the best mountain bikers in the world and worked with us to find the best location for them to shred in front of our cameras. Not only did both Airstream and Dakine end up with hard drives full of images and video but DaKine ran this ad of Casey Brown in Bike Magazine. Huge thanks to everyone involved that made this a massive success.

Dakine Edit Launch

Dakine release their company edit from our Airstream shoot. It’s always cool to see someone else’s take on the footage. They did a fantastic job making an athlete centric trip edit.

Aspen Dav shoot

We’ve worked with Chris Davenport for almost a decade and a half. It was a pleasure to get to capture his entire family living the ski life in their home for Spyder.

Weston shoot

We’ve been huge fans of Weston Snowboards since their inception. They’re a Colorado brand built on soul and passion. They have a badass 1970’s Tucker snow cat, they have a beautiful tiny house they built themselves, they make bomber product right here in the USA, and they’re fun to play outside with. They also reside in Battery621 and work closely with the National Forest Foundation. We always jump on any opportunity to work together.

Wright Awards info –

The Wright is a much anticipated convening of lifestyle industry leaders and award program. From its inception, The Wright has recognized the influential role the lifestyle industries play in shaping our economy and contributing to the Rocky Mountain brand.  We’ve been lucky enough to be judges, contestants, and even finalists one year.

More than an industry showcase, The Wright highlights a mindset. Each year’s class of contenders represent a cross section of companies. Some big. Some small. Some new. Some established. In our selection, we look for leadership and a little grit. We listen to their peers and honor their enterprising spirit, along with their commit to their craft and communities.

This year The Wright is taking over Golden, CO with 3 days of epic programming. Stay tuned for more announcements coming soon and look for panels hosted by Ian Fohrman and Mike Arzt.

Japan

Ian Fohrman obviously has a thing for Japan. Since his first visit as a writer with The Ski Journal, he’s gone back almost every year. This year he shot photos with Kyle Smain of Fischer skis and Stacy Bare of Adventure Not War.

“There is something about Japan that got in my soul: The people, the food, the architecture, the culture, the onsens, and THE SNOW! It is a feast for the senses and I can’t get enough.”

Powder Week

Ian has been testing skis for Powder Magazine for over a decade and still calls it the Greatest Week of The Year.

Powder Awards

Each year we are stoked to play a part in the annual Powder Awards in Breckenridge, CO.  This is always an interesting design challenge: to create a trophy that has a consistent look while still being able to differentiate itself from previous years.  This year we used a combination of printing, laser engraving and a chemical patina to create a new, unique look for 2018.  Oh yeah, and of course we were able to go the event, have a few beers and watch our trophies get handed out to our favorite athletes. The Powder Awards is always such an amazing night of celebrating our community and we’re honored to be able to play a role.

Client Testimonial “You guys do work for a bunch of honkeys”

What else can we say about one of our favorite Creative Directors?

EO Colorado Chapter

Mike Arzt is on the board of the EO Colorado chapter which is a global organization of 12,000+ entrepreneurs. It is an amazing organization focused on growing, sharing and learning. Once a year there is a global conference for members on the board to learn their roles in the organization. Here are a couple take aways and amazing links from the conference which just wrapped in Toronto.

-We love brand videos. This one from P&G rocks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ult4t-1NoQ&feature=youtu.be

-Eric Whitacre was the closing speaker and talked about his project Global Choir project. AMAZING!
“The Virtual Choir is a global phenomenon, creating a user-generated choir that brings together singers from around the world and their love of music in a new way through the use of technology. Singers record and upload their videos from locations all over the world. Each one of the videos is then synchronised and combined into one single performance to create the Virtual Choir.”

-We had a great talk from Doctors Susan and Peter Glaser about “Navigating Challenging Conversations” and they gave us this helpful cheat sheet for helping to raise issues and better deal with responding to criticism. Great stuff.
