As we approach the holiday season barrels down upon us we wanted to share another round of recent work with you. It’s been an amazing few months since our last email blast filled with awesome clients and projects. We had the chance to premier our THOR and First Descents Piece at the THOR Open house, we shot with superstar and amazing human Micheal Franti, we interviewed the President of Airstream Bob Wheeler with Astronaut and top gun pilot Chris Ferguson for a collaboration between Boeing and Airstream, we got dirty in the woods with the Breckenridge Distillery crew, shot a brand piece for K2 Skis, Hestra, and much more.

K2 is one of those brands that will always have an elevated place in our minds. Their contributions to ski design and the achievements of their athletes bedeck the timeline of important moments in skiing. We’re proud to work with them to tell the story of their innovative design, r&d, test center, The Arc.

Hestra

Hestra makes some of the best gloves in the world. We use them year-round in our fabrication shop, in the backcountry, and on the singletrack. We spent a couple days with the Hestra crew creating quick vingettes of some of their product in action. Last month we went up to a secret location in the Front Range of Colorado and helped cut new single track trails and prep ski runs for the winter. The next day we set up in our fab shop and made some sparks fly. Thanks Hestra for keeping our hands safe and comfortable!

Airstream Eclipse

“In the afternoon of August 21, 2017, the eyes of people across the United States turned to the sky to witness the first total solar eclipse visible in the US since 1979. It was also the first eclipse of the smartphone era – a time we now take for granted, when everyone has a camera in their pocket and every moment can be frozen in time. At a time when every event from the most mundane to the most life-changing is captured and shared digitally, the Great American Eclipse was a reminder that some things are best left to the eye, and best captured in the imagination. A cursory glance at Instagram or Facebook that day was the visual equivalent of trying to describe a color or communicate a taste. Images and words fell short.”

Check out one photographer’s amazing journey to capture the shot of a lifetime!

THOR Open House

It’s hard to overstate how good this one felt. We love telling stories that we think nudge the world in a positive direction, but rarely does production work directly create this kind of immediately tangible benefit to so many people. When we pitched THOR Industries on telling the story of First Descents’ life changing programs, we didn’t know how far the relationship would go. THOR jumped right in, going above and beyond, by donating 5 beautiful trailers to house the First Descent participants in a remote backcountry location for a week of programing on the Blackfoot River. Never an organization to half commit, THOR went on to make FD a full partner and integral part of their corporate social responsibility program. Unveiling this relationship to the word, THOR presented our production Finding Strength and Redemption story before a 5000 person private Keith Urban concert at the THOR open house.

If all this wasn’t enough, Airstream gifted an Airstream trailer to Keith and, unbeknownst to anyone in attendance including Airstream and THOR, Keith gifted the Airstream to First Descents. Watch it all happen here.

Breckenridge Distillery

We like whiskey. We especially like really good whiskey made by great people in the mountains of Colorado. Last spring we spent a night up at Francies Hut in Breckenridge with an awesome crew of Breckenridge locals.

This spring, we followed up with another overnight in Summit County. This time we hit some flowy singletrack with the dogs and then headed up Boreas Pass for a hike and camp. That piece will be released spring 2020.

Micheal Frantihttps://vimeo.com/367651372/1a39bfa902

It was an inspirational experience to participate in what Franti and his team have created. Before the concert there was a free yoga session, acoustical set and panel discussion where Michael mingled and engaged the crowd the whole time. Amazing company partners set up a village and embraced the spirit of the festival. Franti was humble and engaged with the diverse crowd. It was amazing to watch children, seniors, and people from all walks of life practicing yoga and celebrating life together. It was truly our pleasure to help document the experience.

It was also a pleasure to experience the new Mission Ballroom, one of best small/med venues in the country.

Smoke and Barrels

One of our favorite parts of Battery621 is the opportunity to host events. Smoke and Barrels is a reoccurring Scotch and Cigar tasting event hosted by Glenmorangie with special guest Dr. Bill Lumsden.

In 1843, William Matheson founded Glenmorangie distillery in the Scottish highlands.  Inspired by the Distillery’s peaceful surroundings on the banks of the Dornoch Firth, he crafted his first single malt whisky. Little did he know close to 200 years later folks from all over would converge on the other side of the world to experience a taste of that history. We laughed and toasted as Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmoragnie’s current and longest running whisky maker, spoke from the heart on his passions, his secrets, his break throughs, and his favorite dirty jokes while everyone raised their glasses into the air and relished in the fine blends the good Doctor brought with him for everyone sample.

The evening’s pairing wasn’t just glasses filled with ice and golden liquor but also fine cigars hand rolled on site for all to sample on the roof deck.

The pairing of both cigars and Scotch is a refinement usually saved for special occasions. In our minds, having our friends and family surround us and enjoy an evening of laughter is good enough cause as any.
